Manten Goma Sablé are a crunchy cookie mainly composed of roasted black and white sesame seeds.
This cookie has a rich sesame flavor, with light sweetness, and the subtle spice of ginger. After mixing the ingredients, which include a lot of natural sesame seeds from Kyushu, real ginger powder is kneaded into the dough. The ginger isn’t overwhelming, but gives it a nice warmth and aroma.
The combination of spicy ginger and nutty, toasted sesame, as well as the moderate sweetness, makes this taste like a mature snack. Sesame seeds are very nutritious, so the added boost of good fats, protein and vitamins makes this a guilt-free cookie.
