Genmaicha features premium green tea leaves combined with brown rice to develop the harmony of bitterness, astringency, and a roasty aroma.
Genmaicha is a type of Japanese tea that consists of sencha green tea and genmai brown rice (also known as roasted rice). By adding genmai, it gives the tea a clearer aftertaste.
This unique and delicious loose-leaf blend features genmaicha tea, and Marukyu Koyamaen’s famous matcha powder. It carries a mellow, nutty flavor that is the perfect way to relax after a long day.
Instructions
It is recommended that you use boiled water (100C), and brew it for 30 seconds. This temperature and brewing time allow you to fully enjoy the aroma of the genmaicha.
Start with 2 tbsp of tea leaves for approximately 240ml of water, but adjust these quantities according to your preferences.
It is a perfect drink to go with washoku (Japanese cuisine), and even some Japanese snacks.
